Proverbs 31:10, “Who can find a virtuous woman? For her worth is far greater than rubies.”

A virtuous wife is truly from the Lord … Who is the Source of all good gifts. I believe I have been given a gift far greater than rubies in the blessing of Jackie. She represents that ruby. Her tenderness, self-control and love for the Lord and His people are truly some of the striking qualities that attract me to her.

The diamond in the ring represents the difference between a man and a woman. Diamonds are strong stones used to cut through rock, concrete and steel itself. So diamonds are stronger than rubies, just as a woman is the weaker vessel and deserving of special honor (1 Peter 3:7) and protection by the husband. This also signifies the different roles of authority and how God has ordained the man to be the head of the home and of his wife (Ephesians 5:22-23).

Then there is the vine that holds the two stones in place … Christ is that vine. As Jesus told us, “I am the vine, you are the branches …” (John 15:5). It is the Lord who makes us one as husband and wife, and He joins us together in perfect unity. We are complete in Him and held together by His love (Malachi 2:15-16; Colossians 2:8-10; Colossians 3:14ff). As we abide in Him, our love for Him, for one another and for others grows stronger (John 15:9-17).

This ring stands as a testament and daily reminder to these truths.
